The Point
Hotel Information
The Point, the legendary Adirondack Great Camp built for William A. Rockefeller at the height of the Great Depression, is a marvelous marriage of rustic simplicity and extraordinary luxury. Created by the Garretts 25 years ago and owned and operated by The Garrett Hotel Group until 2007 when it was sold, The Point is set on the wooded shore of Upper Saranac Lake, with its eleven magnificent guest rooms spread among four log buildings. The Point, one of the worlds most famous hotels and with the world's highest average rate, is a study in delicious contrasts: exceptional meals, the blaze of the campfire on the edge of the dark lake; the fine art and original Rockefeller antiques, the little cabin stocked with snowshoes and skis. The staff organizes each day according to the pleasure of the guests: there are gourmet picnic excursions, journeys through the rippling lake in gleaming mahogany boats, tasting menus of old cognacs, in-room massages. The Point is a special place indeed, where guests feel as if they're at a fabulous houseparty in the woods. The Point was rated #1 Hotel in America for the decade of the 1990's and has been rated in the Top Ten Hotels for the last 25 years.
