The Ivy Hotel
Baltimore, Maryland
An empty mansion becomes an urban oasis.
In The Ivy Hotel, Garrett Hotel Consultants transformed an historic, down-at-the-heels mansion into Baltimore’s top-rated luxury boutique hotel and restaurant. This intensive project was in development for four years, and opened to awed reviews in the summer of 2015. The hotel was accepted into Relais & Châteaux just a few months after opening, and has been named one of Travel & Leisure "Best Hotels on the Planet", on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List, and is ranked as the #6 Luxury Hotel in the US by TripAdvisor.
Over the four year construction and development of The Ivy, GHC oversaw all aspects of concept, design, development, staffing, training and marketing. Constant communication with architects, contractors and designers ensured synthesis of concept and plans. Historical research fleshed out the building’s “story,” and specialty sourcing created the layers of richness and authenticity necessary for this experiential hotel.
Today, under GHC management, The Ivy offers truly world-class hospitality, with superb service and top-notch cuisine. It is the first all-inclusive urban hotel in North America, and has eliminated guest service charges such as tipping, parking, and wifi. The hotel, which incorporated two adjoining buildings and a new
addition, has 18 sumptuous guest quarters, terraces, a verdant courtyard, private and public restaurants, and spaces for private business meetings. The hotel is wonderfully private and discreet, yet extraordinarily welcoming, romantic, and cozy. It’s also lots of fun – something that we have found is an essential ingredient in a truly successful hotel.
The Ivy Hotel is located in the lovely Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, surrounded by museums, galleries and universities, and is about a mile north of the Inner Harbor.
